A Thousand Blows

Hezekiah and Alec, best friends from Jamaica, arrive in London to make their fortunes. They meet Mary Carr, queen of the Forty Elephants, who is planning her most daring heist yet.

After their brutal fight, Hezekiah finds himself firmly in Sugar's sights. Mary steps up the plans for her heist and recruits the help of both Hezekiah and Lao. The Forty Elephants carry out a raid on Harrods, whilst Alec makes a new acquaintance.

A bombing threatens Mary's carefully laid plans. Mary takes Hezekiah on a night out to introduce him to a key figure in the West End boxing circuit. Hezekiah seizes this new opportunity and asks Alec to help in his training.

Hezekiah makes his debut in the West London Boxing Club, but things don't quite go to plan when Sugar makes an appearance after his fight. The night of Mary Carr's heist has arrived and everything is in place. Alec and Treacle make a deal.

Mary finds herself under threat from figures both new and old; having caught the Earl of Lonsdale's attention, Hezekiah finds himself rising in the West London boxing circuit.

Hezekiah is in shock but his title fight against Buster Williams is fast approaching and many key parties, including Peggy and Lonsdale, are relying on his victory.
